The initiative originally began in 2012 with the creation of a Facebook page that sought to inspire civic engagement and community-led action.
Today, Shokriyo is a registered Social Enterprise incorporated in Bangladesh (Reg. No. C-206285) and remains committed to advancing inclusive governance, citizen participation, and social justice nationwide.
Shokriyo was founded by Mahmudul Hasan to build a just, prosperous, peaceful, inclusive, and democratic nation by promoting Active Citizenship.
Shokriyo promotes the rights and responsibilities of citizens and brings together to get more involved with their communities. Core values of active citizenship include participation and belonging to a caring community.
